TEHRAN (IQNA) – God in many verses of the Quran has underlined the coming of the Resurrection Day and warned those who deny it.

Surah Al-Mursalat

In one Surah of the Holy Book, though, this warning has been repeated ten times, which shows the grimness of the warning. And that is Surah Al-Mursalat.

Al-Mursalat is the name of the Quran’s 77th chapter, which has 50 verses and is in the 29th Juz.

It is Makki and the 33rd Surah revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

At the beginning of the Surah, God swears by Mursalat (the emissaries, those who have been sent), and hence the name of the chapter. Mursalat are said to be either the angels who brought the revelation or the storms that were sent.

In this Surah, God swears by five very important things: “By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong, and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets).” (Verses 1-5)

The Surah lays a lot of emphasis on the happening of the Resurrection Day and its signs and also talks about God’s blessings given to human beings as well as the actions and signs of good-doers and evil-doers and their fate.

In this chapter, the emphasis on the Resurrection Day comes with a grim warning to those who deny it.

The phrase “On that day, woe will be to those who have rejected God's revelations!” is repeated ten times in this Surah, so that no one will have any justification to reject the Day of Judgment.

According to Allameh Tabatabei, the Resurrection Day includes events that would mean the end to the human world. In his view, verses 8 to 12 of the Surah that refer to some events on that day such as stars losing their light, the sky being rent asunder, and mountains being blown away as dust, are indications that human life will end on that day.
