AL-QUDS (IQNA) – More than 50 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli forces on Friday as they attended the funeral of a 19-year-old who died from injuries inflicted by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.

The funeral procession of Labib Dumaidi, who passed away earlier in the day at Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, was met with live fire, rubber bullets, stun grenades and tear gas by the Israeli forces in the town of Huwara, south of Nablus, occupied West Bank

Palestinian media reported that 51 people were injured, including 19 who were hit with rubber bullets, two of them in the head, and three who were shot with live bullets in the foot.

The mourners chanted slogans against the Israeli violence and occupation, and in support of the Palestinian resistance. They also demanded justice for Dumaidi and other Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers.

Dumaidi was one of the victims of a raid by Israeli settlers on Huwara, which sparked clashes between the Palestinians and the settlers. He was shot in the chest and suffered severe bleeding.

Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement, issued a statement of condolence for Dumaidi's death, and said that the Palestinian uprising in the occupied territories and at Al-Aqsa Mosque was escalating. It vowed to continue the resistance until the end of the Israeli occupation.

The occupying regime has intensified its aggression against Palestinians recently, especially after a hardline government led by Benjamin Netanyahu took office.

According to the United Nations, more than 200 Palestinians have been killed this year in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza. Most of these deaths occurred in the West Bank, making 2023 the deadliest year for Palestinians there since the UN began documenting fatalities in 2005. The previous record was 150 deaths in 2022, including 33 minors.
