The statement also condemned the most recent storming of the holy mosque on Sunday, describing it as a provocation towards millions of Muslims worldwide that exacerbates violence in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Cairo also emphasized that "the repeated storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to divide it temporally and spatially, in violation of international law and international legitimacy, will not affect its historical and legal status as an Islamic endowment," read the statement.

On Sunday, hundreds of Israeli extremists stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam located in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, to mark the Jewish New Year.

Egypt reiterated its call to international parties, mainly the United Nations and its relevant bodies, to assume their responsibilities in protecting the rights of the Palestinian people, added the text.

The statement stressed Egypt's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinians' rights and all efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive solution leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, on the 1967 borders
