TEHRAN (IQNA) – An elderly Egyptian teacher completed the handwriting of the entire Quran after the treatment of his cancer.

Mohamed Roshdi Mahmud, 80, managed to complete the work in 17 months.

Living in El Maragha, Sohag Governorate, he decided to write down the Quran after going under heart surgery as well as surgery to remove a tumor in his larynx, Youm7 reported.

“After the completion of the writing of the Quran, I felt prosperity and peace. I believed that after God tested my patience with the disease, He bestowed me with the mercy of this mission,” Mahmud said.

Two local Quran experts have assessed the text and ratified its validity.

The teacher has presented the copy to his family so that he may be remembered after death by his children.

Mahmud says he seeks to write down Prophetic hadiths in his next mission.

An Arabic teacher, he has memorized some Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran. Three of his children have committed the entire Quran to their memories.
