39th Iran Int'l Quran Contest:

52 Qaris, Memorizers from 34 Countries to Vie in Final Stage

TEHRAN (IQNA) – According to organizers, 52 qaris and memorizers from 32 countries will compete in the final stage of Iran’s 39th International Holy Quran Competition.

 

This is according to a statement by Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization which organizes the event.

The competition's categories include memorization, recitation and tarteel for men and memorization and tarteel for women.

According to the statement, 12 and six contestants with vie in women's memorization and tarteel respectively. 13 memorizers will compete in the men's memorization category while participants in the final of men's recitation and tarteel categories are 12 and nine respectively.

A total of 149 Quran reciters and memorizers from 80 countries, including 114 men and 35 women, took part in the first round.

As per the announcement, the inauguration ceremony will be held on February 18, concurrent with the Day of Maba’ath (marking the appointment of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger of God) from 4:00 to 6:00 PM local time.

The competitions of men’s categories will be staged on February 19-21 from 3:30 to 9:00 PM, local time.

The women’s categories will also be held on February 19-20 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, local time.

The closing ceremony is slated for February 22 at 4:00 PM local time.

The assessment process in the preliminary round of the contest concluded in mid-January.

The motto of this edition, like the previous one, is “One Book, One Ummah”, a testimony to the significance that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches to unity and fraternity among Muslim nations.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quran contest with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.
