The clerics recited prayers and laid a wreath of flowers on the tomb of the late Imam to renew allegiance with his ideals and aspirations.
They also paid tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The visit came ahead of the 25th gathering of Iran’s Friday prayer leaders.
It will kick off this afternoon with the mottos of “Friday Prayers, Base for Jihad of Tabyeen (struggle to explain)” and “Always Popular, Always Revolutionary”.
The heads of Iran’s three branches of power (the president, Judiciary chief and parliament speaker) will also take part in some of the programs of the event.
The convention will continue here in the capital until Wednesday, July 27, with the meeting of the participants with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
