TEHRAN (IQNA) – Tunisia’s religious affairs ministry printed the entire Quran in braille for the first time.

Religious Affairs Minister Ibrahim Chaib

Religious Affairs Minister Ibrahim Chaib on Thursday visited the Absar Quran Printing Complex and was briefed on the printing of the braille copy of the Quran.

He said in order to help the visually-impaired, the copies will be distributed free of charge among related institute and those who need them.

The ministry had previously printed the 30th Juz (part) of the Quran in braille.

Braille is a writing system which enables the blind and partially-sighted people to read and write through touch.

It was invented by Louis Braille (1809-1852), who was blind and became a teacher of the blind.

In recent years, the Holy Quran and religious books have been printed in Braille to help the visually-impaired Muslims read the texts with ease.
