TEHRAN (IQNA) – A teenage girl came first in a nationwide Quran memorization competition held by Al-Azhar Islamic Center.

Fatimah Atif al-Bindari, 14, bagged the top prize after competing with 13 million Egyptian students in different stages of the Quranic event, Akhbar el-Yom website reported.

Fatimah is a guidance school student from al-Kharijah, a town in al-Wadi al-Jadid Governorate.

Her father says Fatimah learned the Quran by heart at the age of 9.

Fatimah has also memorized more than 6,000 Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and won the top prize in a Hadith memorization competition in Saudi Arabia.

Her brother, who is a year younger than Fatimah, is also a memorizer of the entire Quran.

According to her mother, they often play recitations of the Quran at home, helping the children in memorizing the Holy Book.
