Sudanese Qari, Three Quran Memorizers Die in Car Accident

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sudanese Quran reciter Sheikh Nurin Muhammad Sidiq died in a car crash.

 

The country’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments Nasruddin Mufreh said in a message posted on Facebook that Sidiq and three other Quran activists died in the crash.

The other three, Ali Yaqub, Abdullah Evaz al-Karim and Muhnad al-Kinani, were memorizers of the Quran, the minister said, Al Jazeera reported.

He also noted that an Egyptian Qari named Syid bin Omar who was also in the car is in hospital for treatment.

The accident happened near the city of Omdurman, local media reported.

Sheikh Nurin Muhammad Sidiq was a memorizer and Qari who recited the Quran in various styles and also served as the imam of a famous mosque in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.

He took part in several international Quran competitions, including in Dubai and Malaysia, and won several ranks.
