Scheduled to begin on November 7, it will run for eight days under the supervision of the country’s defense minister, Okaz daily reported.
The categories of the competition include memorization of the entire Quran, and memorization of 20, 10 and 5 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Book.
A new category added to the Quranic event this year features the best voice in recitation of the Quran.
More than 40 countries have been invited to take part in the contest, according to the organizers.
They say a number of top Quran experts from different parts of the Muslim world will form the panel of judges.
The competition will be organized in compliance with the health protocols in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
