Iran FM, Bosnian Mufti Discuss Muslim Issues, Bilateral Ties

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s foreign minister and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s top Muslim cleric met and held talks in Sarajevo.

 

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian held a meeting with the Grand Mufti (Reis-ul-Ulema) of Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein Kavazović during a visit to the Balkan country.

The two sides discussed bilateral ties, common Muslim values, and the two countries’ shared culture and history, according to a statement by Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

During the talks, the top Iranian diplomat pointed to a rise in Islamophobia in the world and the tough conditions of spiritual leadership for Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressing gratitude for the senior cleric’s efforts.

For his part, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina praised the Islamic Republic’s support for Muslims in the Balkan state.

The Iranian minister arrived in Sarajevo on Tuesday morning following a two-day state visit to Serbia.
