TEHRAN (IQNA) – According to the Holy Quran, the reality of deeds will be manifested on the Day of Judgment and individuals will be rewarded or punished by their own actions, not by their reactions.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Ali Khosravi, a researcher in the field of religion, has offered insights about the results of good and bad deeds in the Hereafter. What follows is a summary of the second session of his discussion on Tawheed:

Imam Ali (AS) introduces the Quran as the “spring of the hearts” as the book leads to the growth of hearts and guides man toward good deeds.

According to the Quran, Akhirah is a reaction of this world. We will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment the way we lived in this world and will witness the results of our deeds. The Holy Quran says: “Those who are blind in this life will also be blind in the life to come and in terrible error.” (Surah Al-Isra', verse 72) Blindness here refers to the blindness of the heart.

There is another verse that points to the same concept: “Disbelievers (will be told on the Day of Judgment), ‘Do not make any excuses on this day; you are only receiving recompense for what you have done’.” (Surah At-Tahrim, verse 7) It means that what one will experience on the Day of Judgment is their own actions.

The verse does not say that people will be guided toward Paradise or Hell because of their deeds, rather, it says it is the very actions that their reality has become clear on the Day of Judgement and individuals are punished or rewarded with them.

Therefore, Akhirah is the reality of this world. We should be vigilant so as to see Akhirah in this world.
