Quranic Plan for Children to Be Held in 1,500 Egyptian Mosques: Awqaf Minister

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some 1,500 mosques across Egypt will take part in a plan featuring summer Quranic programs for children.

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa made the announcement, saying more than 2,000 imams, preachers and Quran teachers, both men and women, will also contribute to the plan, ahram.org website reported.

He said the summer programs will get underway in early June and will run for three months.

The names of mosques participating in the implementation of the plan will be announced soon, he stated.

Gomaa added that the programs are expected to help enhance religious awareness and national values among school children.  

Earlier, the Awqaf ministry had announced the opening of registration for boys and girls in Quran memorization centers in the country.

There 69 Quran memorization centers in Egypt, operating under the supervision of the Awqaf ministry.

Many of those who graduate from these centers are employed to serve the Quran or are dispatched to other countries to hold Quranic programs.
