In a Saturday statement published on Instagram, the Shia mosque’s management announced that the act of vandalism happened on Friday morning, Aljazeera reported.

The extremists have burned a copy of the Quran while inflicting damage to the mosque’s wall, according to the statement.

“This heinous crime was not just against Islam, rather, it affects all other religions as the attack desecrated the words and the house of God,” added the statement.

According to the Brazilian website “Arede”, the perpetrators of the crime entered the mosque from the side door which was found broken.

The mob also set fire to a hanging frame that carried Islamic phrases while ripping tasbihs. Nothing has been stolen from the mosque.
