TEHRAN (IQNA) – The director of Iran’s Quran TV said the TV network will hold an international Quran competition for university students titled Isra.

Speaking at a meeting of Quranic officials in Tehran on Sunday, Mohammad Hossein Mohammadzadeh said the contest will be held later in March for eight days.

The contenders’ performances will be broadcast on the Quran TV every night from 9 PM to 10 PM, he noted.

Mohammadzadeh also said the Quran TV will make efforts for coverage of the events of the 35th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the competition with the participation of Quran memorizers and reciters from various countries.

Like the 2017 edition, Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall) will likely host the 2018 Quran contest.

Concurrent with the 35th International Quran Competition, a number of other international Quran contests, including those for women, the visually-impaired and seminary students, will also be held in Tehran.
